What I love most about teaching is working with students who are eager to learn and trust me with their learning journey. I find so much joy when they enjoy class and realize that learning doesn’t have to be boring. Building deeper connections with my students means a lot to me. I always remind them that making mistakes is okay, and that learning takes time. I’ve taught both ESL and math, which makes me versatile in different fields. I also have a passion for the performing arts and recently wrote a comedic adaptation of a tragic Filipino play. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading fiction, non-fiction, and educational materials that inspire my teaching.

I mostly guide my students in discovering their potential. I help them see areas for improvement without making them feel like they've made a mistake. I always create a warm, positive learning environment where they don’t feel pressured to act a certain way. I want everything to flow naturally so we can uncover their strengths and build on them through activities they genuinely enjoy.

I studied bachelor of science in Civil Engineerin.

I've been teaching for 3 years. I teach ESL from kids to adults. And I teach MATH and ELA to kids from K1 to K8.

My mission

In my years of teaching, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from many different backgrounds. One thing I’ve consistently seen is how important it is to help them build confidence. Many of them hold back from showing their true abilities because they’ve often been told what they’re lacking. My heart is always set on helping them discover what they’re truly capable of—through gentle practice and positive encouragement. I share this from the perspective of a teacher who has worked with children who were once thought to struggle with memorization. But with a kind and supportive learning environment, I’ve seen them slowly grow, find their own strategies, and begin to thrive in their studies.

My Story

My first students were two Japanese siblings who moved to my country to learn English and continue their education. I was there to support both their academic and language needs. These two were complete opposites—one was a math whiz in 2nd grade who could solve problems like 2134 × 1274 in under a minute using mental math, thanks to his training with the Japanese abacus. The other was more inclined toward the arts and wasn’t particularly interested in core academic subjects. This kind of diversity challenged my teaching approach, but I’m grateful I found ways to adapt. We not only built a strong bond through our studies—we also shared cultures, habits, learning styles, and most importantly, joy and love that went beyond language barriers. That experience sparked something in me. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to teaching and helping students reach their goals, no matter where they come from or how different they are from one another.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have experience working with children with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism, and I’ve learned to adapt my teaching methods to support their unique needs with patience, empathy, and flexibility.

I’ve been working with kids who have ADHD, and what I’ve learned is that things go really well when they feel heard and understood. I always consider their pacing, break instructions down into clear, simple steps, and make sure the learning environment is supportive and patient. I also set a fun and relaxed tone by making gentle “agreements” with them—like little routines or cues to help manage distractions—without directly calling attention to them. It’s important that these strategies feel natural and respectful so they stay focused without feeling singled out. Most of all, I make sure they enjoy the process and feel confident as they grow.

These kids require so much patience, but they’re also some of the most loving and fun students to work with. I have a student with autism who, at first, didn’t seem to be paying attention during class. But whenever I asked him a question, he could repeat exactly what I had just said. From then on, our classes looked like that—less about typical engagement, more about recognizing how he processes information. It really taught me the importance of acknowledging and respecting different learning styles, and giving students the space to use those to their advantage.
