Sabrina holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree and has been tutoring since 2021, with experience as a substitute teacher and a short-term role as a social worker supporting children with autism where she evaluated IEPs. She structures sessions with a quick warm-up, focused practice, and time for independent application with feedback, and she adapts instruction to each student’s learning style using visuals and graphic organizers. She tutors math and ELA across elementary through high school, helping students solidify foundations like fractions and algebraic thinking while keeping lessons engaging for learners with ADHD. While running an afterschool program at Firewall Centers she earned the “Mover of Mountains” award after the program achieved an 84 percent improvement rate for students who were at risk of failing. Families value her patience, practical strategies, and steady focus on building trust and manageable goals. She lives in Orlando, volunteers with her church, and is a dog mom to two pups who keep her outdoors and ready to travel.

I approach teaching with patience, creativity, and assured support. I usually structure sessions with a quick warm-up, focused practice on the main concept, and time for independent application with feedback. To customize, I pay attention to each student’s learning style—for example, using visuals in Math for visual learners, or graphic organizers in ELA for students who need help structuring ideas. I stay flexible and adjust on the spot so the student feels supported and engaged.

I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, which, along with my tutoring and substitute teaching experience, give me a strong foundation in Math, ELA, and instructional strategies. This background helps me break down complex topics and support students with different learning needs.

I started tutoring in 2021. I was a peer tutor at the Writing center, helping undergraduate and graduate students with their write, often for ELA classes. I’ve worked with students on reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, and developing clear arguments. I also focused on tailoring lessons to individual learning styles. From there I also did contract tutoring for Elementary, middle, and high school students in all subjects, mostly math. I’ve helped learners strengthen foundational skills such as fractions and algebraic thinking. Currently I substitute teach, and there are components of which I tutor Math and ELA.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to empower students with the confidence, skills, and strategies they need to reach their full potential. I’m inspired by the belief that every learner has unique strengths, and with the right support, they can overcome challenges and thrive. Tutoring gives me the chance to meet students where they are, tailor learning to their needs, and celebrate their progress along the way.

My Story

I grew up Fort Lauderdale, FL and have always had a passion for learning and helping others succeed. Along the way, I faced some challenges including, growing up with a single parent, overcoming shyness in school, and balancing work and education, which gave me a deeper understanding of what it means to persevere. I was fortunate to have mentors and teachers who encouraged me to lean into my strengths and never give up, and that’s a big reason I stuck the education field, I want to give that same encouragement to others. Today I live in Orlando, FL where I balance my work in education with family, my pups, and friends. Outside of teaching, I enjoy volunteering at church, reading, and I’m excited to continue growing alongside my students while supporting them in reaching their goals.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I try to find related things for each student to keep them engaged. For a short period of time I was a social worker for children with autism and evaluated several IEPs to understand how to best support the children. While doing contract tutoring I have tutors foster children who often were in and out of different foster homes and did not have stable living conditions. Depending on the child and what the family shares, I try to always come with an open mind and start slow to build trust and work through manageable goals to track improvement.

For 3 months I was a social worker for children with autism and evaluated several IEPs to understand how to best support the children. I started the job as a Summer Camp Counselor and based on my experience and how well I did the job, the director pulled me to the side one day and offered me the social worker position. I left due to a close family member passing. Students that had ADHD, I had to keep them engaged by brining up random topics and objects to keep them engaged.
