Recommended Ages

Stitcher was one of the earliest podcast apps, launched in 2008 and known for streaming shows without manual downloads, but the standalone app and website were shut down by parent company SiriusXM in August 2023. For years, homeschool families used Stitcher to organize educational podcasts into playlists for car‑schooling and quiet time. While new users can no longer sign up, the idea behind Stitcher—curating a steady diet of history, science, and storytelling shows—remains powerful. Many of its popular podcasts now live on other platforms or inside the SiriusXM app. If you see older homeschool guides referencing Stitcher, think of them as a reminder to build your own “learning radio station,” whatever app you choose now.
