Reading Tutor for 1st Graders

Our Reading Tutor for 1st Graders collection supports beginning readers around ages 6–7 as they connect sounds to print and start reading simple texts. Homeschoolers, afterschooling families, and caregivers will find vetted, secular tutors who use structured, phonics-based approaches grounded in the Science of Reading. Every tutor is reviewed for training in early literacy, gentle communication, and a strengths-based approach, with profiles indicating experience with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or speech and language differences. Use the filters to sort by availability, hourly rate, and focus (phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, or early comprehension). A first grade reading tutor can help make early reading feel safe and successful, especially if a child is moving faster or slower than peers. If you’re unsure whether your child needs a tutor or just more practice, Modulo’s AI learning concierge can help you understand their needs and recommend appropriate support.
